It’s NEVER just a game!!!

Yes, I know there are no recent pictures! April 1, 2009

I admit that I’m lazy.  Of course there are recent pictures of Cooper, but my laptop is company issued and it does not allow any USB storage devices to be attached to it for security reasons - so the pics are  still on the camera.  Uploading them would require going into the basement since that’s where our home office is!  And when I’m down there, I’m overwhelmed by the stacks and stacks of papers that are still waiting to be filed…  Plus I just don’t care to take Coop down there and now that I’m back at work, I don’t want to be spending any of my time at home away from him!  Maybe this weekend…

Coop is doing fantastic!  He’s STILL battling the same cold he got during his first week of daycare (yes, we’re now in week 5) but he’s been to the doctor twice and they aren’t concerned with his stuffyness or coughing.  His lungs and heart sound fine.  However, the goupy eye he had on Friday required some eye drops (yea conjuntivitis!) but that’s all behind us now.  We just continue to suck his nose out, rub a little Vicks Baby Rub on his chest each night, and have him sleep with the humidifier running.   He’s sleeping GREAT, so it would seem its not bothering him too much.  The past week or so he’s gone down at 8:30 or 9 every night, and we don’t hear a peep from him (other than an occasional cough or coo) until we wake him up at 6:30am.  I can’t complain about that one bit.

Coop is also doing great with his neck strength and head control.  They actually started putting him in the exersaucer at daycare last week, so this past weekend I put his together at home.   His feet don’t quite touch so he can’t spin himself around, but he’s already drooled on several of the attached toys.  We also got him a Bumbo seat, thanks to the Target giftcard from my close friend, Heather.  We did a trial run in Ben’s (well, now Sam’s I suppose!)  a couple weeks ago and he did pretty well, so I went out and got one for home last weekend.  Coop sat in it and watched me assemble his exersaucer :)

Grandma & Grandpa are coming down this Friday night to watch Cooper while Todd and I have a night out with friends.  We expect it to be a VERY late night (ok, early morning) so we figured Grandma & Grandpa are the best sitters since they can crash for the night in the guest room!  This is actually going to be the 2nd night out Todd and I have had since Coop’s been born – and the 1st was just this past Sunday!  We went to the Eagles concert – those guys can still rock.  We were QUITE impressed with how well Joe Walsh and Don Henley’s voices have held up even though these guys have to be well into their 60′s.  There were no backup singers to help them with any high notes, and they didn’t lower the range of ANYTHING.  I mean, just start singing ”Witchy Woman” to yourself – Henley totally hit every note WHILE playing the drums.

Todd’s softball season is starting up – he had his first Ohio tournament last weekend and they were VERY greatful the weather held up.  He was quite certain they’d get poured on.  Leagues won’t start until the first of May, but they have a couple of tournaments in April.  Speaking of the first of May, that is when Todd will be picking up our new Rott puppy.  Yes, we realize that a puppy and a baby is likely going to drive us to the looney bin!  But we are dog lovers and we just don’t see ourselves ever being without one.  Knowing Bailey (who is 11 1/2!) probably doesn’t have much time left, we  knew a puppy in the near future was inevitable and decided it would be easier on Coop to have a puppy running around while he’s still immobile.

Work has been going well for me.  I am liking my new schedule (7:30-4:30) and after a week or two I was back into my usual swing of things.  But I admit, at first I was a bit scatterbrained.  There have been distractions: layoffs, re-orgs, etc. but my job has remained secure and we’re VERY thankful for that.  We know far to many people who are out there looking.

Well, there are the highlights of the past couple of weeks.  Time for bed!
